Audio Spectrogram Generator

Draws frequency energy over time from a local audio file onto a PNG using a browser FFT. The chart does not change the audio. Width, window size and the frequency scale change the picture, not the recording. Rendering stays in this browser and does not use a video engine.

Accepted formats:
MP3WAVM4AOGG

A larger FFT window separates frequencies more finely and smears time. A smaller window does the opposite. Low frequencies are drawn at the bottom. Brighter pixels mean more energy, and color is only a secondary cue. The chart does not change the audio, and this page does not load a video engine.

Upload audio

MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or another file this browser can decode.

Frequency scale

What does Audio Spectrogram Generator do?

An audio spectrogram shows how much energy sits at each frequency as time moves left to right. Low frequencies are at the bottom. This page uses a browser FFT and a canvas. It does not change the audio, and it does not load a video engine. FFT size is the window length. A larger window separates frequencies more finely and smears time. A smaller window does the opposite. Log scale gives more rows to low frequencies. Linear scale spaces hertz evenly. Brighter pixels mean more energy. Color is only a secondary cue.

How to use Audio Spectrogram Generator

  1. 1Upload an audio file the browser can decode.
  2. 2Set the width, height, FFT size, frequency range and time range.
  3. 3Choose log or linear scale, gain and a background color.
  4. 4Render the spectrogram and download the PNG. Cancel stops the render.

Supported inputs and outputs

Inputs

MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or other audio the browser can decode

Outputs

PNG spectrogram. The audio file is not modified.

Practical uses

  • Looking for a hum or a harsh band before an EQ change
  • Comparing a take's frequency energy over time
  • Exporting a still chart for a local edit review

Browser and media limitations

  • The chart is an analysis picture. It does not remove noise or edit the audio.
  • Frequency detail and time detail trade off. One FFT size cannot maximize both.
  • Files the browser cannot decode cannot be drawn, even if another app can play them.
  • A long, wide render uses memory. The page does not load a video engine.

How local processing works

Your media is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to Tubelexity for processing. This page does not load a video engine. Page navigation and analytics still use network requests.

Frequently asked questions

Does the spectrogram change the audio?

No. The PNG is a picture of frequency energy. The recording is not rewritten.

What does FFT size change?

A larger window resolves frequency more finely and time more coarsely. A smaller window does the reverse. The hop across the image sets how those windows are spaced.

Why can two charts of the same file look different?

Width, window size, frequency range, log versus linear scale and gain all change the drawing. They do not change the samples.

Is a video engine downloaded?

No. Decoding and drawing stay in the browser audio and canvas APIs.
