How local processing works
A route-lazy HEIC decoder and browser Canvas process these images locally. The decoder code downloads when this tool is opened, but the HEIC files and converted images are not sent to Tubelexity or an image conversion service.
A compatible copy, not an archival replacement
Choose JPG when a website, editor or recipient cannot open a HEIC photo. Tubelexity decodes the photo and encodes its visible pixels as JPEG. The result is a still image, not a copy of every item in the HEIF container: do not rely on it to retain auxiliary images, depth information, Live Photo components or the original metadata.
Keep the original HEIC if you may edit it again. A higher JPEG quality setting reduces additional compression but cannot recover detail already missing from the source. JPEG also has no alpha channel; choose HEIC to PNG when you need a PNG workflow rather than repeatedly converting the JPEG.
When a HEIC file will not decode
A .heic extension does not guarantee that every encoded variant is supported. Tubelexity tries available browser decoding and its on-demand HEIC decoder locally. If decoding fails, confirm the original opens on its source device and try one smaller photo at a time. Renaming the extension to .jpg does not convert the pixels.
