What does WebP to MP4 Converter do?
WebP to MP4 reads a local .webp file. An animated WebP is demuxed, and every display frame is composited with its offset, blend, and disposal before encoding. A still WebP becomes one frame held for the duration you choose, from 0.2 to 30 seconds. H.264 cannot play an ordinary transparent background, so pixels are drawn on the color you pick. Keep the source delays or choose a constant frame rate from 1 to 30. An MP4 cannot loop forever, so a forever-looping WebP is exported for 1–8 plays.
How to use WebP to MP4 Converter
- 1Upload a .webp file. The page reports whether it is static or animated.
- 2Choose a background color, fit, and either the source size or a 720p or 1080p preset.
- 3For an animation, keep the delays or set a constant FPS, then choose 1–8 plays.
- 4Convert to MP4, compare duration and file size, and download. Cancel stops the local encode.
Supported inputs and outputs
Inputs
Static WebP, Animated WebP
Outputs
MP4 with H.264 video
Practical uses
- Turning an animated WebP into a video a player can open
- Holding a still WebP for a chosen duration
- Placing a transparent animation on a solid color
Browser and media limitations
- Transparent pixels are composited onto the background. The MP4 is not see-through.
- A forever loop becomes a finite play count of 1–8. The combined frame count stays at or below 300.
- Constant FPS rebuilds the timeline. Source delays are kept only when timing is set to keep.
- Limits are 30 MB, 300 frames, 2048 pixels on a side, and 24 million total pixels.
- The file has no audio track. This conversion does not invent a soundtrack.
How local processing works
Your media is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to Tubelexity for processing. FFmpeg.wasm is downloaded on first use, but your media is not sent to a processing server.
What a sample animated WebP becomes
This example uses a generated sample, not a user file. A sample animation is 96 by 64 pixels, with 3 frames and delays of 100, 200 and 300 milliseconds. Keeping source timing writes those delays into the MP4 frame list. The first frame is still visible about 0.1 seconds in, and the second frame follows it. A still WebP is one frame held for the duration you choose.
Transparent pixels are drawn on the selected background because H.264 has no ordinary alpha. The decoder applies offsets, blend, and disposal before that flatten. Passing the whole file to an image element is not used, because that can show only the first frame.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert animated WebP into MP4?
Upload the WebP. The decoder composites every animation frame, then the frames are encoded as H.264. A still file stays one frame.
Can WebP animation be preserved?
Yes. Frame order is kept. Offsets, blend, and disposal are applied before encoding. The result is not the first frame alone.
Why does MP4 need a background color?
H.264 does not provide ordinary transparent playback. Transparent pixels are drawn on the color you select.
Does conversion change animation timing?
Not when you keep source delays. Each delay is written into the frame list. Constant FPS replaces those delays with equal steps.
