What does Picture in Picture Video Maker do?
Picture in Picture places a second video or a still image over a main video. Overlay width is a percentage of the main picture, from 10% to 70%, and opacity mixes that layer from 5% to 100%. The main soundtrack stays. Overlay audio is off unless you turn it on, and an image has no audio to mix. The export is re-encoded H.264, so it is not a bit-exact copy of either source. Rounded corners are not offered, because a per-frame mask is unreliable here. A border and an optional soft shadow are drawn with pad and blur.
How to use Picture in Picture Video Maker
- 1Upload the main video and an overlay video or image.
- 2Choose a corner or center, then set size, opacity, offsets and timing.
- 3Leave overlay audio off unless you want it mixed under the main soundtrack.
- 4Export the MP4. Cancel stops the local job.
Supported inputs and outputs
Inputs
Main video, Overlay video or PNG, JPG or WebP image
Outputs
MP4 with the main soundtrack, unless the main file has no audio
Practical uses
- Showing a camera inset over a screen recording
- Placing a logo or still over part of a clip
- Limiting an inset to a start and end time
Browser and media limitations
- The picture is re-encoded. The original frames are not copied through.
- Overlay audio mixes only when both files have an audio track and you enable it.
- Corner radius is not available. Border and shadow change the overlay's drawn size.
- Very large videos can run out of browser memory. The engine downloads on first export.
How local processing works
Your media is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to Tubelexity for processing. The media engine downloads on first export. Page navigation and analytics still use network requests.
Frequently asked questions
Which soundtrack is kept?
The main video's audio is kept. Overlay audio stays off unless you enable it, and only a video overlay can have audio.
Does a smaller overlay stay sharp?
It is scaled to a percentage of the main width and then encoded. Scaling down is safer than scaling a tiny image up.
Can I round the overlay corners?
No. This page uses a rectangular overlay. A border and an optional shadow are available instead.
Is the video uploaded?
No. Both files stay in this browser tab. The media engine downloads on first export.
