Voice Recorder

Record microphone audio locally after granting browser permission. Watch the live level meter, pause and resume, then preview and download the native recording. Its format depends on the browser; optional trimming and WAV, MP3 or M4A conversion load the local FFmpeg engine only when requested.

What does Voice Recorder do?

Voice Recorder is a simple capture step for voice-overs, practice takes and notes. Refresh the input list to choose a microphone before starting. Noise suppression and echo cancellation are browser constraints, not guaranteed restoration features. After stopping, keep the native audio or select a time range for local conversion.

Browser and media limitations

  • Browser encoding and input processing vary by device.
  • Device labels may be hidden until permission is granted.
  • Converted WAV cannot restore detail lost by native recording compression.
  • The optional converter downloads FFmpeg on first use.
  • Long recordings consume memory; record and download shorter takes.

How local processing works

Camera, microphone and screen permissions are requested only after you press Start. The recording stays in browser memory and is not sent to Tubelexity. Stop or Cancel releases the input tracks; leaving the route also releases them. Download recordings before leaving.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save a microphone recording as MP3?

Yes. Stop the recording, choose MP3 in the optional converter and explicitly run Trim / convert audio. Native recording does not require FFmpeg.

Why do I only see a default microphone?

Browsers can hide device identities before permission. After an allowed recording, stop and refresh the device list to choose another available input.

Does the live level meter change the recording?

No. It visualizes the live audio signal. It does not normalize or repair clipped sound.

Can I change microphone while recording?

Stop the take first, choose another microphone and start a new recording. This avoids silently changing devices mid-take.
